Burning Shadows

Burning Shadows is a black and white, first person shooter game where the player controls a sorcerer who enters a metro station infested with evil spirits and is tasked with exterminating them. The sorcerer is also there to investigate why the spirits are appearing in here and to defeat the boss responsible for summoning them here. The sorcerer can draw and cast spells to defeat enemies. 

It is inspired by the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series and general black and white manga and comic aesthetics.  

We developed this prototype in the span of around 1.5 months for a university class project. Its mechanics and visuals are a bit clunky and have a lot of technical problems that we wont fix as this project will not be developed any further.

CONTROLS

• WASD - Movement
• WW/AA/SS/DD - Dashing
• Shift - Running
• Space - Jumping
• Right Mouse Button - Open spell drawing screen
• Left Mouse Button - Drawing spell symbols
• Tab - Open the skill tree
• M - Open the spell book menu to view spell symbols
• Escape - Open the in game menu
• P – If the boss doesn’t spawn in the final room, press this to summon him. Be careful, pressing it multiple times will spawn the boss multiple times.

                                      

SPELLS

Stellar Core: Draw the "⭐" shape to summon a mid-sized cosmic sphere. Balanced in speed and power. 

Arc Needle: Draw the "⚡" shape to fire a small, fast electric shot. Great for quick hits. 

Nyx Orb: Draw the "🔺" shape to summon a large, slow dark sphere. Ideal for controlling space. 

Vital Bloom: Draw the "❤️" shape to cast a healing spell. Restores health but consumes a portion of your Rage bar. 

Radiant Cage: Draw the shape to summon beams around you, damaging all nearby enemies. Consumes a big portion of the rage bar
